If you give a mouse a cookie...

Or...if you give a homeschool mom a bug...

Eyed Click Beetle

First, she'll want her camera so she can take a picture of it.

Then, she'll call her kids to come see it.

When they see the bug, they'll want to know what kind it is, and if it can fly, and they'll show you its mouth and eyes.

When the bug flies away, the mom will tell the kids to get the field guide and try to find one like it.  Then the kids will draw a picture of it in their nature journals.

The mom will look for information on the internet and in her books and figure out a way to make a lesson out of it...

And then she'll ask for another bug.

Cute post! ;-)

Cute bug too.

But you're braver than me to hold it.

When I first saw the bug I thought it was plastic! That is a seriously cool bug. Funny, I would have done the exact same thing - another reason I can't wait to 'officially' become a homeschool mumma.

Thanks for sharing with us again. Your posts are very inspiring to me :)

Funny- cause when I read the first part I automatically thought- "she'll take a picture!"

Love that I am not the only mama that goes crazy over fun bugs! I taught a boy scout program last night and one mom said she thought I was a bit overly excited about the mouth adaptations of the dragonfly nymph! I think she thought I was really weird. If you haven't checked out that bug I would encourage you to go mucking in the local pond and find one!!!
Way to go homeschooling mom! Wish I had the patience to do that with my girls but at least in all of our at home times I try my best to incorporate teaching them about all the things that I love. Featuring you tomorrow morning on my blog as a part of the Outdoor Play Link up! Thanks for the great post.
