Butterfly time!

Thanks to my son for teaching me how to use a focus setting on my camera, I was able to capture this butterfly taking a drink from a flower on our butterfly bush yesterday.  To celebrate all the butterflies and moths (and skippers) we have been seeing around our garden, how about a giveaway?

Simply leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about August for a chance to win this field guide to butterflies and moths.  For an extra chance to win, blog or facebook about this giveaway, then come back and tell me you did in a separate comment.  A winner will be chosen at random on Thursday, September 1.

Giveaway is now closed--thanks for your comments!

So many things happen in this HOT month. My and my brother's birthdays are in August, so it has always been special for that reason. But really August has meant county fairs with cotton candy, funnel cakes, and yummy, greasy foods; riding the Ferris wheel and rocking the seat; bumper cars... spinning in the Tilt-a-Whirl as fast as possible; looking at all the cute sheep, pigs, and calves. And then, of course, all that makes me think of Charlotte's Web and the fair scenes in that story. I think that would have to be my favorite part of August.

My favorite thing about August would have to be the hummingbirds, they become so active beginning the early and hottest part of August and begin bringing the young to the feeder.I can stand at the kitchen window and watch them ,one even comes close to the window as if to say a quick hello. Also by the end of the month there seems to be a little change early morning reminding me that fall is soon approaching.Another joy of August is that it is not only the month I got married 50 years ago it is also the month I became a GRANDMA for the first time so August is indeed a special month for me.
