Wonder-full Wednesday {Things I Thought I'd Never Do #2}

Definitely one of the things I thought I'd never do is having one of these in our house.

   Yes, we have a snake.  Meet Daddy's midlife crisis birthday present.  She's beautiful.

   When you are a critter-loving homeschool family, every pet becomes a learning experience.  We've already learned so many interesting facts about corn snakes, and we've even seen her eat and shed her skin.  Bella is 12 inches long, has a voracious appetite, and is growing quickly.  The guides say she could get to be 60 inches long--yikes!  What have I gotten myself into?

Wonder-full Wednesday {Animal Adventures}

As we meandered up the mountain to arrive early in the morning for Homeschool Adventure Day, we were greeted by a pair of deer with their fawn jumping across the road. Mommy doe nuzzled her little one and kept it close while daddy buck stood guard, and they paused to watch us as we watched them.

The fresh air and thick woods were therapeutic as we left cell phone signals behind and "roughed it" for the day.  I did find out that steep rugged trails and my knees don't get along as well as they used to but in the end, my boys' smiling faces were the reward.

When we got out of the car at home at the end of the day, J-man commented that the moon looked like it was smiling at us.  Yep, I think it was, buddy.

Nature Journal: This is not a branch

The boys hunted for Easter eggs today, and their Grandma told them she thought she hid the "golden egg" in a bush or a tree, so they all started looking up.

This curious fellow didn't point out any eggs, but he put on a good show for us as he moved
 from branch to branch.
